EDO PERIOD (18TH CENTURY), HELMET SIGNED NAGAMICHI

Helmet [kabuto]:

The helmet of a sixty-two-plate iron koboshi-bachi (helmet bowl with small standing rivets), with shibuichi, shakudo, gilt and copper six-tier hachimanza (decorative surround to the aperture at the crown), the shakudo kuwagata-dai (fixture for two gilt horns) pierced with chrysanthemum and support for the gilt maedate (fore-crest) of janome-mon (family crest of snake eye), wide mabisashi (brim) and fukigaeshi decorated with six shibuichi yahazu-mon (family crest of arrow), with shibuichi nawame (barleycorn twist edging); the bowl signed Nagamichi



Neck guard [shikoro]:

A two-tiers iron shitsuke-zane (laced plates simulating individual lamellae) manju-jikoro (rounded neck guard)



Face mask [menpo]:

The black lacquered iron ressei-men (fierced expression type face mask) with mustache, applied with two odayori no kugi (cord hooks) and a asenagashi-no-ana (drain) beneath the chin,, red lacquered interior, with three-tier lacquered iron yodare-kake (bib)



Cuirass [do]:

The lacquered iron yokohagi okegawa nimai-do with seven five-tier lacquered leather kusazuri (skirt), two hinged gyoyo (breast pendants) with matching family crests, applied with gold lacquer rims and shibuichi mounts



Sleeves and shoulder guards [kote and sode]:

The iron gaku-sode (shoulder guards) with inlaid silver bishamon kikko pattern with two-tier shitsuke-zane (laced-plates simulating individual lamellae), applied with shibuichi mounts, with hyotan-kote (sleeves with gourds) with iron kusari (chain) and matching family crests



Thigh protector and lower leg guards [haidate and sune-ate]:

The itazane haidate (thigh protector) with lacquer plates, the lacquered iron sanmai-zutsu sune-ate (lower leg guard), tateage in blue kikko (turtle shell) lacing with iron plates inside



Accessories:

A wood armor storage box

Accompanied by a certificate of registration as Juyo bunka shiryo (Important cultural material) no. 396 issued by the Nihon Katchu Bugu Kenkyu Hozon Kai (Japanese Armor Preservation Society), dated 1992.3.8
