A CHARLES II SILVER TANKARD

LONDON, 1675, MAKER'S MARK II BETWEEN PELLETS IN HEART SHAPED CARTOUCHE, ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN INNES

Plain cylindrical on a moulded foot, the lower body applied with plain band between two moulded ribs, the scroll handle with mid-rib, hinged flat-domed cover with lion sejant thumbpiece, engraved on body with a coat-of-arms flanked by crossed plumes, and on cover engraved with a crest and plumes, marked on body, cover and handle, also with scratchweight '38=15'

7 5/8 in. (19.3 cm.) high

38 oz. 13 dwt. (1,203 gr.)

The arms and crest are those of Smith.
