Lot 238 | A cheery postcard
Estimate value
$ 800 – 1 200
KEROUAC, Jack (1922-1969). Autograph postcard signed (“Jack”) to Ed White, postmarked Northport, New York, 17 July 1964.

“I am presently being rowed up the Thames by our friend from Scotland.”

A spontaneous postcard from Kerouac in good spirits. Here he reports great progress (“be ready in the Fall for mountain retreat building”), and in this happy mood ends with a Boswellian fantasy, with him heading up the Thames with a Scotsman, “who, if a Barbarian be, had better consult thee, Sir, or try Bobby Burns' Dee.”
