Each side of the censer is decorated with a shou roundel surrounded by two bats in flight and scrolling lotus flowers. The handles are shaped as archaistic phoenixes and the four legs are decorated with archaistic blades and lotuses. The reticulated cover is decorated with further bats and lotuses, surmounted by a finial shaped as a lotus bud.
