CONFEDERATE IMPRINT – MULBACH, L. Joseph II And His Court An Historical Novel. From the German, by Adelaide deV. Chaudron. Mobile: S. H. Goetzel, 1864. Parish & Willingham 6437. Affixed to the front free endpapers are various newspaper clippings detailing news on some of Joseph II’s descendants in the House of Hapsburg including an article on a foiled 1893 plot to assassinate Emperor Franz Joseph. Four volumes in one. Octavo, 190 x 128mm. (Offsetting from wallpaper covers, light scattered foxing). Each volume in wallpaper wraps and the whole in three-quarter calf, raised bands, marbled boards (hinges cracked, rubbed at extremities).
