Shaped rectangular with moulded rims and plain polished gold sides and base, the cover finely chased and engraved with Venus mourning the death of Adonis watched by Mars and Cupid within a Bérain style cartouche of scrolls, flowers, shell and mask on matted ground, marked inside cover and base
