The enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and signed 'CHARLES BERNEL A PARIS', the glazed lenticle with beaded border, surrounded by a circular case carved with shellwork and scrolls, resting on a foliate platform supported by intertwined dolphins, the tripartite stand headed by grisaille panels depicting putti above an egg-and-dart moulding and foliate boss, the uprights headed by foliate-wrapped scrolls joined by laurel swags, on a tripartite base with concave friezes and moulding decorated with shells and leaves, the interior of the clockcase stamped 'Charles Bernel/ Paris/ 1919'
