Tapering cylindrical with stepped base rim, scroll wood handle and faceted spout, the stepped domed cover with baluster finial, engraved on one side with a coat-of-arms, the other with a crest, both in elaborate Rococo cartouches, marked on underside and with scratch weight 16-5

The arms are those of Vernon impaling Best for Admiral Edward Vernon (1684-1757) and his wife Sarah (1699-1756), daughter of Thomas Best, whom he married in 1729.
