A HUANGHUALI FOOTSTOOL, JIAOTA MING DYNASTY, LATE 16TH-EARLY 17TH CENTURYThe rectangular top frame divided by a central stretcher, flanked on either side by a latticework pattern of the character jing, supported on a high waist and convex beaded apron formed from the same piece of wood, the apron carved with scrolling leafy tendrils spilling over from the beaded edge, set upon squat, outward-curving legs of square section terminating in hoof feet.7 1⁄8 in.
