LONDON, 1686, MAKER'S MARK R POSSIBLY FOR ALEXANDER ROODE
Cylindrical on moulded foot-rim, flat chased with two figures fighting a duel with swords below the sun appearing from behind clouds on one side and on the other with two figures strolling amongst flowering plants and with birds of paradise and a butterfly, the lid decorated with another figure by a fountain, with corkscrew thumbpiece and scroll handle pricked with initials A/RA and fitted inside with five 'pegs', marked on body, cover and handle
