Central Russian, 2nd half 19th century (icon), Moscow, 1894 (riza)
Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. This icon illustrates the story of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, known in the west as the Agony in the Garden. As recorded in all four Gospels, immediately after the Last Supper, Jesus took a walk to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane with the Apostles Peter, James and John. Here he is shown in prayer, while the Apostles 'a stones throw away' sleep as they cannot stay awake. 'The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak'. A cup (chalice) in the upper left corner relate to the words spoken by Christ, 'If this cup cannot pass by, but I must drink it, your will be done' (Matthew 26:42). Overlaid with a engine-turned and engraved silver-gilt riza. The border decorated with strapwork. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'S.V.U.' in Cyrillic. Vertical crack minimally restored. 44.3 x 38 cm.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments.
