A LARGE FAMILLE ROSE MOLDED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLE

IMPERIAL, JINGDEZHEN KILNS, JIAQING FOUR-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN IRON RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)

The bottle is molded and enameled with a continuous scene depicting on one side the poet Su Dongbo aboard a pleasure boat with guests, set on a turbulent river below overhanging cliffs. The reverse is decorated with a scholar, likely Mifu, standing in a formal garden and inscribing a rock, with pine trees and and flowers framing the scene.

2 15⁄16 in. (7.5 cm.) high, porcelain stopper
