The architectural case surmounted by an urn with foliate finial, Vitruvian scroll collar and lion’s mask handles, above an egg-and-dart cast arch supported by entrelac-cast volutes surmounted by pinecone finials and hung with oak-and-acorn garlands, above an acanthus and berried boss, the sides with pierced trellis lined with silk, the white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and signed 'GILLE. LAINÉ / A PARIS', with pierced-gilt hands, the twin-barrel movement with anchor escapement and later Brocot regulation and countwheel strike to bell, the chamfered square plates joined by five pillars
