The screen is carved with a procession of warriors and equestrian figures, some carrying banners, others bearing gifts, journeying through a mountainous, rocky landscape towards a high-ranking dignatory flanked by his attendants, next to a raised terrace with a pair of white elephants, the scene bordered with panels of flowers including prunus, chrysanthemum and peonies. The reverse is carved with scholars travelling within a mountainous landscape with a large lake with bridges, pavilions and islands within a border of scholars' objects and mythical beasts.
