FIRST EDITION, 2 volumes, folio (370 x 240mm.), titles printed in red and black, 98 hand-coloured engraved plates (only, of 100), contemporary calf, flat spines gilt, lacks two plates, rebacked and repaired retaining original spines; sold not subject to return

This work is based on the collections of the London Leverian Museum established by Sir Ashton Lever in 1774 and includes four fine plates of butterflies by Harris, generally regarded as the greatest of butterfly artists.
