Helmet shaped and each on shaped oval foot cast and chased with shells and scrolls, with quilted leaf-capped double scroll handles rising from shells, the bodies applied on each side with elaborate rococo foliage, scrolls and grotesque mask cartouches, one engraved with a crest, the other with a coat-of-arms, applied beneath the lip with a shell, marked on undersides

The arms are those of Gresley of Drakelow co. Derby with Hood in pretence, for Sir Thomas Gresley, 5th Bt. 1722-1753) and his wife Wilmot Hood, daughter and heir of Alderman Hood of Scraptoft, Leicester, whom he married in 1749.
