A RARE AND LARGE ICON OF THE CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST SURROUNDED BY THE NARRATIVE OF HIS PASSION Russland, um 1800 Russian, circa 1800 Aus drei massiven Laubholz-Brettern zusammengefügtes Bildfeld mit zwei profilierten Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The main scene illustrating the Crucifixion flanked by the Mother of God, Mary Magdalene, St. John and Longinus. Two angels, the sun and the moon above. The central panel surrounded by twelve scenes each narrating an episode of the Passion cycle, the events identified by the inscriptions on the border. The detailed composition executed delicately with saturated colours. Vertical crack restored, the edges chipped. 53.1 x 44 cm.

Vertieftes Bildfeld, Eitempera auf Kreidegrund, partielle Versilberung, Goldlack. 53,1 x 44 cm. Im größerem Mittelfeld Darstellung der Kreuzigung Christi flankiert von der Gottesmutter und Maria Magdalena sowie Johannes und Longinus. Zwei Engel schweben unterhalb der Sonne und des Mondes. Zwölf Bildfeld mit Szenen aus der Passion Christi entourieren das Zentrum. In sehr feiner Malerei ausgeführte Ikone mit einem seltenen Thema. Vertikaler Riss restauriert, Kanten best.
