Circular, on four small stud feet, the moulded border applied with foliate motifs, the centre engraved with crowned monogram, the reverse engraved and stamped with inventory number 217, engraved below the rim with X.217 and again in the centre, also engraved with illegible inscription, possibly a Russian scratch weight

34 oz. (1,059 gr.)
The crowned monogram is probably that of Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich or alternativerly his elder sister the Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna (1786-1859) who married, in 1804, Charles-Friedrich, who was to succeed his father as Duke of Saxony in 1828.
