A VERY FINE DATED ICON SHOWING SOPHIA DIVINE WISDOM OF GOD WITH A SILVER-GILT OKLAD Russian, dated 1839 (icon), Russian, Moscow, Dmitrii Shelaputin, 1878 (oklad) Tempera on wood panel. Finely executed in great detail on a gold ground. Depicted aglow with fire within a mandorla and flanked by the intercessionary figures of the Virgin and John the Baptist to form a Deisis. Four selected saints on the borders: the Archangel Michael, the Guardian Angel, St. Nicholas of Myra and St. Olga. The borders of the silver-gilt oklad with repoussé and chased frieze. Struck with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and maker's mark 'D.Sh' in Cyrillic. Minor areas of retouching. 33.3 x 27.5 cm.

Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
