A VERY RARE LARGE BRACKET-LOBED GILT-BRONZE 'GUARDIAN KINGS' MIRROR

MING DYNASTY, EARLY 15TH CENTURY

The back is cast in high relief with the Four Guardian Kings centered by a double-vajra on a ground of curved lotus tendrils, the blossoms interspersed with auspicious emblems and 'Om ah hum' mantras inscribed in Devanagari above the figures. The reverse is encircled by a continuous border of 'Om Mane Padme Hum' mantras between beaded rims and petal frieze.
