Rectangular chased with opulent foliage in beaded strapwork on matted ground within moulded borders, the hinged cover applied with a central silver-mounted deep-blue enamel medallion set with a rose-diamond crowned initial A under a coronet, within chased foliage and strapwork and with blue enamel reserves at the angles, marked inside cover and base, on rim and flange

gross weight 7 oz. 17 dwt. (245 gr.)
The initial A under a coronet is that of the Grand Duke Alexander Nikolaevich (1818-1881), later Emperor Alexander II.
