Lot 83 | A VICTORIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER TEA-CADDY AND SILVER CADDY-SPOON
The tea-caddy, of casket form, shaped oblong, on four pierced scroll bracket feet with cast knight terminals, and with pierced scroll apron with grotesque masks, the sides engraved with cartouches framing applied silver vignettes depicting on the front Aeneas and Dido, on the back a shepherd and a shepherdess, and on the sides Diana, the hinged cover with engraved strapwork and at each corner a silver medallion figuring a putto, and with pineapple finial, the cover engraved with crest and inscription 'Dunoon, 10th July 1861', marked on base, cover and lock; the shell-shaped caddy-spoon with grapevine-wrapped ring handle, marked in shell
