First edition, one of 300 copies signed by Faulkner. Absalom, Absalom! details the rise and fall of Thomas Sutpen, who leaves Western Virginia for Mississippi with the aim of finding wealth and becoming a powerful patriarch. The story is told entirely in flashbacks and its groundbreaking technique, along with that of The Sound and the Fury, contributed to Faulkner's being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1949.
