A SET OF EIGHT EMPIRE CARVED MAHOGANY FAUTEUILS - Jacob Frères (attr.), Paris, ca. 1800 - Each with padded back arms and seat covered in red cut velvet, the akanthus carved arms supported by Sphinx shaped legs ending in paw feet. Traces of age. Worn. - From an important German private Collection. The sculpture of these chairs is admirable for its quality of the detailed sfinx symbolic. If the Directoire and the Consulate period made Etruscan-style chairs fashionable, with square tapering feet ending in lion paws, the Jacob Brothers distinguished themselves by the quality of their sculptures, which precisely reproduce the bone structure and musculature and even the "pads" under the feet. The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
