The basin shaped oval with neck notch and cast and chased reeded border interspersed with four antique profiles in laurel medallion above shell, the jug on spreading oval foot and with wood scroll handle and molded spout, the bowl engraved with coat-of-arms on rim and the jug engraved with a coat-of-arms and a crest, each in baroque cartouche, marked on underside of bowl rim and on bowl, on jug neck and in cover

The arms are those of Rowley with Dawson in pretence, for Admiral Sir William Rowley K.B. (c.1690-1768) and his wife Arabella Dawson (c.1695-1784), daughter and heir to George Dawson, whom he married in 1729.
