1842. Öl/Lw. 32 x 40 cm. R. u. sign. und dat. A. Calame 1842. Zustand Min. rest., doubl. - Schweizer Landschaftsmaler. Wegen des frühen Todes des Vaters muss C. bereits mit 16 Jahren mit Arbeit in einer Bank für den Unterhalt der Famillie sorgen. Der Bankier zahlt C. Unterrichtsstunden bei F. Diday. 1837 siedelte er nach Paris über und bereiste von dort aus Deutschland und die Niederlande; später auch nach Italien. C. war ein hochdekorierter Landschafsmaler, u.a. war er Mitglied der Ehrenlegion. Unter seinen Kunden waren Napoléon III. und der russische Zar, dessen Kindern er Zeichenunterricht erteilte. Mus.: St. Petersburg (Eremitage), Paris (Louvre), London (Nat. Gall.), Hamburg (Kunsthalle), Amsterdam u.a. Lit.: AKL, Thieme-Becker, Bénézit.

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
