The Schwerdt-Jeanson copy of the rare first edition, first issue with the additional title dated 1820. 'Alken's most important work ... It must always form the cornerstone of any Alken collection' (Tooley). It contains 'aquatints of exceptional quality considered by many to be Alken's greatest achievement and one of Britain's finest sporting books' (Litchfield). Folio (467 x 304mm). Aquatint additional title and 50 aquatint plates after Henry Alken, title and plates coloured by a contemporary hand (occasional light offsetting and spotting). Contemporary green half morocco, gilt spine, gilt edges (extremities rubbed).
