Zylindrische Schafttülle, auf deren Rücken vollplastisch eine kauernde Raubkatze mit fein ausgearbeiteten anatomischen Details dargestellt ist. Die Oberseite mit einer Rippe verstärkt, die sich nach vorne bis in die Mitte der Axtklinge zieht, das Blatt der Klinge oben waagerecht und nach unten bauchförmig ausgezogen. Oberfläche mit braunroter Kupritschicht überzogen, darauf grüne Oxydflecken. Länge 16,5 cm.
Provenienz: Spanische Privatsammlung, erworben im niederländischen Kunsthandel.
An ancient oriental bronze axe with animal on shaft tube, mid-3rd millennium B.C.
Cylindrical tang, the back of which is fully sculptured with a crouching feline predator with finely worked anatomical details. The top reinforced with a rib extending forward to the centre of the axe blade, the blade of the blade horizontal at the top and bellied out at the bottom. Surface covered with a brown-red cuprite layer with green oxide spots on top. Length 16.5 cm.
Provenance: Spanish private collection, acquired in the Dutch art trade.
