JCB-Ternaux-Compans copy of the first edition of an essential text related to the development of Congregationalism in New England. Printed as part of Richard Mather's Church-Government and Church-Covenant Discussed with its own title page, this work by Puritan minister John Davenport was a product of the period of intellectual exchange with English Presbyterians which ultimately led to the formation of the Cambridge Platform. This excerpt from Mather's larger work was likely one of the first books sold by Henry Stevens to John Carter Brown. JCB II:307; Sabin 46776 (entire work). Quarto (183 x 132mm). 15 leaves. Title in ornamental border (some dampstaining, final leaf a little soiled). 19th-century cloth-backed boards with gilt stamp of Ternaux-Compans (spine a little worn). The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments.
