An Answer of the Elders of the Severall Churches in New-England unto Nine Positions. London: printed by T.P. and M.S. for Benjamin Allen, 1643. JCB-Ternaux-Compans copy of the first edition of an essential text related to the development of Congregationalism in New England. Printed as part of Richard Mather's Church-Government and Church-Covenant Discussed with its own title page, this work by Puritan minister John Davenport was a product of the period of intellectual exchange with English Presbyterians which ultimately led to the formation of the Cambridge Platform.
