LINCOLN, Abraham (1809-1865). Autograph document signed ("Logan & Lincoln"), [Springfield], c. 14 March 1842.

One page, 200 x 192mm. (approx. 35mm split at right edge with 15mm tear extending downwards, mounting remnants at top-edge of verso). Docketed by Lincoln on the verso.

Lincoln submits a petition in an early breach of contract case. As plaintiff attorney for John L. Blaine, William Tompkins & William D. Barrett, Lincoln files suit against J. D. Allen & Co. after the company provided a promissory note to the plaintiffs for $488.76 yet failed to pay. Blaine, Tompkins and Barret later dismissed the case.
