AN ICON OF CHRIST PANTOKRATOR WITH SILVER-GILT BASMA Russian, mid 19th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Afanasiy Tikhonow, 1842 (basma) Oil on wood panel. The borders overlaid with a silver-gilt basma chased with foliage. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'A.T'. On the reverse engraved dedication plaque: 'This icon was donated by Her Majesty Princess Theresa Wilhelmine of Oldenburg, born 5 April 1815 died 26 November 1871'. Princess Therese Wilhelmine of Nassau-Weilburg was the mother of the later Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna Romanova. 31.6 x 26.8 cm. Most likely the icon was in the house church of the Princess Theresa College in St. Petersburg.

Silber, vergoldet. 31,6 x 26,8 cm. Punziert mit Stadtmarke, Beschaumeisterzeichen, Feingehalt '84' und Meistermarke 'AZ'. Rückseitig gravierte Widmungsplakette 'Diese Ikone wurde gespendet von Ihrer Majestät Prinzessin Therese Wilhelmine von Oldenburg, geb. am 5. April 1815 gest. 26. November 1871'. Prinzessin Therese Wilhelmine von Nassau-Weilburg war Mutter der späteren Großfürstin Alexandra Petrowna Romanowa. Höchstwahrscheinlich befand sich die Ikone in der Hauskirche des Prinzessin-Theresien-Kollegs in St. Petersburg.
