Probably around 1945, pencil drawing, 27 x 21 cm, bottom right stamp 'Atelier André Derain', verso stamp, 'André Derain, Vente. Knaublich, Mes. Loiseau et Schmitz, 23-24 mars 2002, St-Germain-en-Laye', under Passepartout and glass framed. - French painter, graphic artist, sculptor and Bühenbildner, one of the main representatives of the Classical Modern. From his parents for a career as an officer, or engineer, to Paris has studied D. 1898/99 sent alongside at the Académie Carrière. Crucial to his friendship with M. de Vlaminck, and H. Matisse, with whom he was to shape the style of the so-called Fauves. From 1907, he turned to, not least under the impression of the art of Picasso, cubism.
