An extraordinary Western Iranian mace head with four ram heads, Luristan, 10th - 8th century B.C.
The bronze socket thickened at the top in the form of four resting rams' bodies. The heads with their powerful horns stand out in free sculpture. The bodies decorated with cold work. Beautiful patina. Intact. Length 7.5 cm. Weight 520 g. Gripping due to the unique, extraordinary theriomorphic design!

Provenance: From the West German private collection of K. V., acquired on the European art market.

Die bronzene Schafttülle oben deutlich verdickt in Form von vier ruhenden Widder-Leibern. Die Köpfe mit ihrem mächtigen Gehörn treten freiplastisch hervor. Die Körper leicht in Kaltarbeit verziert. Schöne Patina. Intakt. Länge 7,5 cm. Gewicht 520 g. Ergreifend durch das einmalige, außergewöhnliche theriomorphe Design!
