Antique gifted Savonette pocket watch of the Russian tsar, ca. 1900-1915. In original case from PAVEL BURE , the yard supplier of the Russian tsar. Case and dust cover in Gold 583. Spring cover with applied double headed eagle. White enamel dial with black roman numerals and arabic minute ring. Sunken small second. No. 43173. Visible signs of use and small dents on the case. Diameter ca. 50mm (measured without crown).

According to the consignor, Tsar Nikolaus II visited Coburg once a year to visit relatives. The consignor's grandfather was a forester in Coburg at the time and went hunting with the Tsar every year. They had a friendly relationship and Nicholas II always wanted to hunt alone and without a follower with the grandfather of the consignor. In 1917 the tsar took a pocket watch out of his pocket, thanked him for the nice time and gave the grandfather of the consignor the pocket watch as a souvenir. The next year he did not come again (murder of the tsarist family in 1918).
