Porcelain, white. The Apostle in wide robes, on a high, profiled Base standing. His left
Hand is half-raised, in his Right he holds a Tome. Height 48cm.
Brand with three grinding sword strokes, 72023, Bossierernr. 138, year characters for 1980. Condition A.

Kaendler designed the models to the 12 apostles in reference to the famous, monumental marble sculptures in the nave of San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome. They were intended as a gift from Augustus III to his mother-in-law Wilhelmine Amalie
