Tusche und Wasserfarben auf Papier. Hochrechteckiges Blatt mit Entwurf (Scheibenriss) für eine bemalte Glasscheibe aus einer Serie der zwölf Apostel. Darstellung des Judas Thaddäus mit Mantel und langem Gewand, auf eine lange Keule gestützt. Der Hintergrund mit detaillierter, von Menschen und Tieren belebter Landschaftsdarstellung. Links im Hintergrund das Martyrium des Judas Thaddäus vor den Toren Babylons. In Passepartout, hinter Glas gerahmt. In kirschbaumfurniertem Rahmen des 19. Jhdts. Blattmaße ca. 32 x 23 cm, Größe mit Rahmen 46 x 37 cm.
Augustin Hirschvogel (1503-53), Sohn des Glasmalers Veit Hirschvogel der Ältere (1461 - 1525) in Nürnberg, war ein deutscher Künstler, Geometer und Kartograf der Renaissance. Bis ca. 1530 arbeitete er in der Werkstatt seines Vaters, ab 1536 war er als Kartograf für Kaiser Ferdinand I. tätig und zog 1544 nach Wien.
Provenienz: 1967 im Kunstahandel bei Trauwitz in Stuttgart erworben.

Augustin Hirschvogel (1503-53), son of glass painter Veit Hirschvogel the Elder (1461 - 1525) of Nuremberg, was a German artist, surveyor and cartographer during the Renaissance. Until circa 1530, he worked in his father's workshop, becoming a cartographer for Kaiser Ferdinand I from 1536 and moving to Vienna in 1544.
Provenance: Acquired in the art trade near Trauwitz in Stuttgart in 1967.
