Bevor Rolex sein eigenes Chronographenkaliber entwickelt hatte, wurden die Daytonas mit dem Spitzenkaliber El Primero von Zenith ausgestattet und unter der Kaliberbezeichnung 4030 verbaut. Diese Werke sind hoch-innovativ und können sich bis heute in Präzision und Perfektion durchaus behaupten.
