Bronze, goldbraun patiniert. Sign.; Am Sockel in Versalien betitelt "Louise Marie (/) Reine des Belges". Vollplastische Darstellung der ersten belgischen Königin (1812 - 1850) in vollem Ornat mit Hermelinmantel und kleiner Krone auf dem Haupt; auf dem achteckigen Postamentsockel Wappenschilde mit dem Brabanter Löwen als Wappentier des 1830 begründeten Königreichs Belgien. Der aus einer bedeutenden Bildhauerfamilie stammende Auguste van den Kerckhove studierte an der Antwerpener Akademie, 1861-1864 besuchte er das Atelier von Louis Jéhotte und an der Brüsseler Akademie das von Eugène Simonis. Er arbeitete hauptsächlich in Brüssel. In den Königlichen Museen der Schönen Künste in Brüssel hat sich auch eine von ihm 1869 geschaffene Marmorbüste des verstorbenen Kronprinzen Leopold von Belgien (1859 - 1869) erhalten. H. 72,5 cm.
