Babylonian Talmud, sections Tractate Yevamot and Giphot Alfas in the original publishers leather cover with gilded embossing. The book is in very good condition with an entrance title page imitating the portal of the Jerusalem Temple, frames and headpieces in the text. 19th century edition printed in Zhitomir in a famous Jewish printing house. Consists of two large sections: Tractat Yevamot and Giphot by Rebbe Issak Alfas. The first work is devoted to the condemnation of celibacy. It postulates the obligation of a childless widow to marry her husbands closest, unmarried relative (levirate marriage). The second part includes interpretations of the treatises of the Babylonian Talmud by Rabbi Issac Alfas. Dimensions of the book: 38 x 25 x 5.5 cm.
