Bluebird, Costume Design for the Ballet “The Sleeping Princess”, signed, inscribed “M’Idsikovsky/5 acte/raccourir/la largeur du jupon”, titled and dated 1921.
Pencil and watercolour, heightened with gold and silver, on paper, 33 by 24 cm, 33 by 24 cm.

The present lot is a costume design for Stanilslas Idzikowski as Bluebird in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Sleeping Princess ballet, partly re-orchestrated by Igor Stravinsky and premiered by Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes company at the Alhambra Theatre in London on 2 November 1921.
