Öl auf Kupfer. 52,5 x 40,5 cm. Restaurierung. Rahmen min. beschädigt Die modische Kleidung der dargestellten Hauptfiguren legt eine Entstehung des Gemäldes im späteren 16. Jahrhundert nahe. Stilistische Charakteristika lassen eine Entstehung im venetischen Kunstkreis, speziell im Umfeld der Bassani vermuten. Giambattista Verci berichtet von einem thematisch übereinstimmenden Gemälde Leandro Bassanos im Besitz des Cristoforo Ottoboni: ''[...] un quadro colla Sibilla, che dimostra ad Ottaviano Imperadore la Vergine in aria col nato Messia nel seno, tocco di graziosissimi colpi [...]. Die künstlerische Händescheidung innerhalb der ausgesprochen produktiven Familie der Bassani ist sehr schwierig. Sollte die Einordnung Voss' zutreffen, ist es nicht auszuschließen, dass es sich bei vorliegendem Gemälde um jenes bei Verci zitierte Werk handeln könnte. Die Verwendung einer verhältnismäßig großen und damit kostbaren Kupfertafel als Bildträger kann zudem als Hinweis auf einen nicht unbedeutenden Künstler gesehen werden. Vgl.
