Das sehr seltene, viersaitige Instrument mit Fichtendecke ist spielbar (eine Saite ist gerissen). Das Instrument wurde mehrfach restauriert. Es findet sich eine Querstrebe unter dem Steg, die durch zwei Stimmstöcke mit dem Boden verbunden ist. Auf der Deckeninnenseite ist noch eine Art Mittelrippe zu erkennen. Die Bassettl sind ein Bindeglied zwischen Cello, Viola da Gamba und Kontrabass und wurden bis in die Wiener Klassik verwendet.
Das Instrument wurde von Johannes Loescher, Köln restauriert.

This very rare, four-stringed instrument with spruce top, is playable (one string broken). The instrument has been restored several times. Cross brace under the bridge, connected to the back by two tuning pins. A kind of middle rib can still be seen on the inside of the top. The bassettl is a link between the cello, viola da gamba and double bass and was used until the Viennese classical period.
The instrument was restored by Johannes Loescher, Cologne.
Dimensions: Total length: 141.3cm, corpus length: 85.5cm, top width: 39.9cm, bottom width: 48.2cm, rib height: 14.5cm.
