Mehrfach gestufter, kantig ausgezogener Rundfuß mit schleifenumwickelter Wulst sowie kelchförmig aufsteigenden, stark reliefplastischen Akanthusblättern. Birnförmig gebauchter Korpus mit gerundeter Schulter, in kurzen, gekehlten Hals übergehend. Seitlich hochragende Henkel in Gestalt von Schilfbündeln. Gedrückter, durchbrochen gearbeiteter Deckel mit großem, plastischem Knauf aus fein modellierten, aufgelegten Blüten, Knospen und Blättern. Beidseitig der Wandung großflächige, rocailleförmig von Reliefgold gerahmte Kartuschen. Schauseitig vor grünem Grund das Bildnis Wilhelm II. von Preußen in signifikanter Felduniform des 1. Weltkrieges einen Nerzmantel sowie Uniform und Pickelhaube tragend. Die Weste dekoriert mit dem Pour le mérite Orden sowie dem 1914 datierten Eisernen Kreuz. Als Vorlage diente ein Gemälde des Hofmalers Arthur Fischer (1872 - 1948), der für seine Werke häufig Fotografien verwendete. Rücks. Darstellung des zwischen 1763 und 1769 nach Entwürfen der Architekten Johann Gottfried Büring und Heinrich Ludwig Manger entstandenen Neuen Palais im Park Sanssouci in Potsdam, dem Hauptwohnsitz des deutschen Kaisers während seiner Regierungszeit zwischen 1888 bis 1918. Äußerst feine polychrome Malerei. Flächendeckend vegetabiler Reliefdekor aus Blatt-, Muschel- und Kartuschenwerk sowie reiche, stilisierte rocailleförmig geschweifte Reliefgoldornamentik. Fuß und Hals sowie in den seitlichen Reserven ein dichtes Blütenarrangement aus Rosen, Margeriten und Vergissmeinnicht. Entw. Alexander Kips. Das Kaiser-Porträt mit Maler-Sign. und dat."M. Dürschke (19) 17" für Max Dürschke (tätig an der KPM 1889-1931). Zepter- und Malereimarke. H. 85 cm.
Das Modell der Potpourri-Deckelvase mit Darstellung des Kaiserporträts wurde zu repräsentativen Zwecken als Geschenk an hochrangige Persönlichkeiten und Fürsten von Friedrich Wilhelm II. bestellt und mit äußerst aufwändigem Dekor, in Form und Stil des Rokokos, mit zarten, harmonisch aufeinander abgestimmten Pastelltönen gestaltet. Das Konterfei des Kaisers wurde von Max Dürschke (geb. 1875) gemalt, der bis 1931 für die KPM im Bereich Figuren- und Porträtmalerei tätig war und sich als hervorragender Maler von Kaiserporträts etablierte.

Provenienz: Laut Angaben des Einlieferers stammt die Vase aus der Familie des ehem. Reichspräsidenten Paul von Hindenburg, welche die Prunkvase im Zuge politischer Verdienste von Kaiser Wilhelm II. als Geschenk erhielt.
