Lot 94 | Bedeutender Bronzetorso eines Bodhisattva, China, Tang-Dynastie, 618 - 907 n. Chr.
Estimate value
€ 60 000
Provenienz: Aus süddeutscher Privatsammlung, in den 70er - 90er Jahren erworben.
Bronze with a greenish-brown age patina. The depiction of a Bodhisattva in standing Tribhanga pose, the left knee slightly bent. The body is clothed in a garment that is draped in fine folds (dhoti) and a scarf slung around the shoulders. A delicately modelled chain hangs around the neck, extending down over the chest to the thighs. The fleshy, full-bodied shape of the figure clearly indicates the significant impact of the Indian Gupta period (320 - 600). Mounted on a modern stand. Height without stand 64 cm.
Provenance: From an old German private collection, acquired during the 1970s to 1990s.
