A significant German wood and pewter "daubenkrug" stave tankard, Kulmbach, circa 1710/20
The slightly conical tankard made of oak staves with a pewter mounting. The walls with a border of fine openwork and engraved pewter inlays. The front bearing an unidentified crowned coat of arms, flanked by unicorns rampant. The body embellished with a continuous hunting scene with leaping stags and hunting hounds amidst trees and leafy vines. The hinged lid with a large ball pusher, serrated hinge with decorative rosettes appliquéd on the side. The base of the handle stamped (possibly at a later date) with the master's mark of Johann Georg Meyer the Elder, who is documented as a pewterer in Kulmbach from 1708 to 1723. Height 22 cm.

Leicht konischer Krug aus Eichendauben mit Montierung aus Zinn. Auf der Wandung umlaufend fein durchbrochene und gravierte Zinneinlagen. Schauseitig ungedeutetes bekröntes Wappen, flankiert von stehenden Einhörnern. Auf der Wandung umlaufend jagdliche Szene mit springenden Hirschen und Jagdhund zwischen Bäumen und Blattranken. Scharniergelagerter Deckel mit großem Kugeldrücker, gezahntes Scharnier mit seitlich aufgelegten Zierrosetten. Am Henkelansatz später (?) geschlagene Meistermarke von Johann Georg Meyer d.Ä., der von 1708 - 1723 in Kulmbach als Zinngießer nachgewiesen werden kann. Höhe 22 cm.
