Kräftige zweischneidige Klinge mit linsenförmigem Querschnitt und kurzer Fehlschärfe (teils narbig). Im oberen Drittel beidseitig flache Kehlung mit geschlagener Signatur "+GIO+KNEGT+ + IN+SOLINGEN+". Eisernes Bügelgefäß mit gerader Parierstange, terzseitig Eselshuf mit durchbrochen gearbeitetem Stichblatt. Schauseitig erhaben in Silber tauschierter Ranken- und Blütendekor, die Innen- und Rückseite ganzflächig feuervergoldet, teils berieben. Originale Hilze mit schachbrettartig geflochtener Silberdrahtwicklung und Türkenbünden. Sechsfach gekehlter ovaler Knauf mit allseitiger Silbertauschierung, die Kehlen vergoldet. Länge 120,5 cm.
Luxuswaffe aus höfischem Umfeld, vergleichbare Stücke befinden sich unter anderem in der Wallace-Collection in London (A 555 und A 557) sowie in der ehemaligen Sammlung Dreger in Berlin, Auktion bei Fischer 1912, Los 86.

A distinguished German rapier with silver-damascened and gilt guard, circa 1610
The sturdy, double-edged blade of lenticular cross-section with a short ricasso, pitted in places. Shallow fullers on both sides of the upper third, struck with the signature "+GIO+KNEGT+ + IN+SOLINGEN+". Iron knuckle-bow hilt with straight quillons, arms of the guard on the obverse with an openwork guard plate. The front with silver-inlaid tendrils and floral decoration in relief, all inside and rear surfaces fire-gilt, abraded in places. Original grip with chequered, braided silver wire winding and Turk's heads. The oval pommel with six grooves and lavish silver damascening, the fullers gilt. Length 120.5 cm. The deluxe weapon of courtly provenance. Comparable pieces can be found in the Wallace Collection in London, for example (A 555 and A 557) and in the former Dreger collection in Berlin, auctioned by Fischer in 1912, lot 86.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
