Leicht geschwungene, sehr kräftige und breite Klinge mit T-Profil, zweischneidige, scharfe Spitze mit Yelman, beidseitig reich geätzt, terzseitig der Hahn als Zeichen der Herrschaft von König Louis-Philippe I. (1830 - 1848), der Namenszug "Brice", ein Granatsymbol und Ranken und Lorbeer, die Gegenseite ähnlich gestaltet mit den Schriftzügen "Liberté Orde Public". Beidseitig reich reliefiertes und ziseliertes Messinggefäß, terzseitig an der Parierstange das Hahnsymbol, quartseitig ein Rangstern. Breite, terzseitig reich reliefierte Messingscheide (zwei Trophäen mit Hahn und Ranken) mit zwei fein verzierten Ringbändern und zwei beweglichen Trageringen.
Klinge leicht fleckig, vereinzelt kleine Risse, Närbchen und Putzspuren, Scheide mit kleinen Dellen, Vergoldungsspuren an den Messingteilen. Trage- und Altersspuren. Länge 87 cm.
Joseph Nicolas Noël Brice (1783 - 1851) kämpfte als Kavallerieoffizier in den Napoleonischen Kriegen und wurde nach der Schlacht bei Eylau 1807 von Napoleon persönlich mit der Ehrenlegion ausgezeichnet. Im Mai 1837 wurde er als Kavallerieoberst wieder eingesetzt und als Kommandant der algerischen Küstenstadt Bône nach Afrika geschickt. Am 28.2.1848 wurde Oberst Brice von der Regierung in den Rang eines Brigadegenerals erhoben. Der Säbel ist ihm sicher überreicht worden, als er als Kommandant Algerien verließ.
Ausgewogener, stimmiger Säbel im orientalischen Stil mit interessanter Klingengeometrie, prunkvoller Verzierung und spannender Geschichte.
