Lot 2097 | A major pillar carpet with Maudgalyayana
China. Gansu. Qing Dynasty. Mid-19th century. Century

Pile of wool, warp and weft cotton. Together with Sariputra, the Shown here, was one of the first followers of the Buddha. He
is barefoot, in the three-piece kasaya-robe dressed, and with a rod with a Stupa
shown. Him the Eight Buddhist treasures, and the clouds surrounded. Between the rod
and his head is also in a ruyi-shaped Reserve the character for moon
placed. Below the waves with the rocks and the depth of water, above a border with tassels. 268x121cm. Condition A/B.
