Nepal/Tibet. 19./20. Century

colors and Gold on fabric. Mounted with Gyaser brocade (Varanasi, Benares, India). Side buttons made of silver. The founder of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as Guru Rinpoche (lit. Precious master) worshipped here with Amitabha on his head. Him some of his eight manifestations, surrounded further down the stations of his life are shown. Above right he is shown in the rare Form of the blue-skinned healer, Orgyen Menla, surrounded by eight forms of the medicine Buddha. This phenomenon is not part of the Eight manifestations of Padmasambhava

The Thangka is supposed to originate from the direct environment of the current Dalai Lama. On the back of the main is a consecrated figure in red. The Gyaser silk of the mount is the most woven-consuming threads with different gold. Such precious materials were imported from India and used exclusively for the garments of the highest used carrier. 83 x 64cm, total dimensions 150 x 98cm. Matching wooden box with glass. Condition A/B.
