Lot 2033 Impressive Lokapala, World Guardian

Wood, carved, gilt and paint. In the failure step, standing in magnificent armor and to the rear stretched right Arm, the clenched Left hand raised. Due to the moving, powerful stance, and because there is reason to believe that he was Right formerly, a long halberd, it could be the warden of the North. In the expressive face, eyebrows and Beard with ink, painted, originally, the Beard was also strengthening with the hair. On the torso, the armor is accented by a plastic lion mask. The swing-out at the end of coat amplified the tense posture, as well as the recurved, wide Sleeves.

On the back of the figure, two sealed Openings. A radiological examination showed two contiguous cavities. The upper, smaller, was probably already open, the lower, larger seems to be in the original packaging. In such a hollow scrolls, smaller figures and other objects have been stowed away rooms at the consecration. It is also seen that the figure consists of a piece of wood, the head is worked separately and was placed. Height 65cm, width approx: 63.5 cm, depth approx 25cm. Condition b. left Arm re-attached.
